Crack sealing is used to repair cracks in roads caused by contraction in the base layer or in the transversal and longitudinal seals in hydraulic cement concrete or asphalt agglomerates.
Traffic can be resumed between 30-120 minutes after applying the sealant, depending on outside temperature. Optionally, in order to avoid the sealing agent sticking to car tires, a clean aggregate can be spread over the sealing band.
If another treatment is scheduled after sealing the crack, such as asphalt emulsion, slurry seal or a hot asphalt mix, it can be done directly on the sealing material.
Crack sealing provides strong impermeability and extends the pavement’s service life.
