TRABAJOS BITUMINOSOS, S.L.U. (TRABIT) is associated with the Prevention Service of the EUROVIA ESPAÑA Group, which has a Job Safety Plan that meets all stipulations of current Spanish labour law, specifically Art. 16.1 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, revised by Law 54/2003.
The plan establishes an organizational structure to carry out a job safety analysis of the current state of the company, define the functions of each level of the hierarchy, indicate practices, procedures, processes and any other actions needed to properly manage prevention.
The main goal of this policy is to integrate a culture of prevention into the structure of the company in order to improve the health and safety of our workers.
The policy establishes the creation of annual action plans, one for shared goals and objectives and another for each workplace, which will define the actions needed based on the job safety analysis. The required human, technical, material and financial resources will be provided to plan prevention actions.
This plan is indefinite because it seeks to establish the long-term organizational structure, responsibilities, functions and principles of prevention action. However, it may be revised and modified when necessary.
The implementation and application of the Job Safety Plan includes:
- The structure of the organization
- The responsibilities
- The functions, practices, procedures and processes
- The necessary resources
The guidelines established in the Job Safety Plan will affect the activity carried out by company personnel and workers attached to temporary employment agencies. It also establishes criteria on how to coordinate prevention with companies that:
- Provide services as contractors or subcontractors
- Share workplaces with our company
- Carry out a specific work or service for our company
Because the management of the company is aware that the nature of road construction and maintenance, as well as asphalt and aggregate production, can lead to health and safety hazards for workers and third parties who could be present at its worksites, it has developed an ambitious management system to prevent occupational hazards. This system is considered our highest priority, in accordance with the principles presented in the Occupational Risk Prevention Policy and a presents a clear message of how strongly we are committed to continually improving worker health and safety.
The work we have carried out over the past ten years in this area has allowed us to achieve our best results in the fight against work accidents. However, there is still a long road ahead to reach our ultimate goal of “zero accidents”.
In occupational health we have put prevention and protection measures in place to limit worker exposure and even eliminate some hazards, applying the principle of substitution or reduction of the source of problems. However, just as with accidents, we have to continue working hard to guarantee that the measures to protect the health of our workers are always carried out.
Taking action at the level of methods, procedures, machinery, individual behaviour and hazardous situations, as well as analysing the causes of accidents or incidents (near accidents or hazardous situations) are the basic pillars of our approach to prevention, all of which manifest in numerous actions, mainly providing information and training in health and safety to our workers.
These pillars are put into practice through a well-documented and up to date Health and Safety management system and by setting measurable, realistic and consistent goals with this Prevention, Health and Safety Policy.
Beyond the basic pillars, we must continuously reinforce our “prevention culture” at every level of the company, around three main principles:
- Strict compliance with current legislation, as well as with internal company regulations;
- Commitment by management to lead by example in their decisions and actions, ensuring rules are followed, encouraging everyone they work with to follow this Prevention Policy;
Active participation of all workers to improve prevention and working conditions.
